Darin Cooper, new President, Sound Communications
(Grove City, OH) – Sound Communications announced today that Darin Cooper, Systems Engineer and CTO, has been appointed as president effective immediately. He succeeds Garry Stephenson, founder, who is retiring after serving 30 years as president and CEO. Stephenson will remain as CEO and an active member of the company’s board.
“We are delighted to have Darin bring his strategic leadership and industry expertise to the position,“ said Stephenson on behalf of the board. “Darin is a proven leader and a versatile innovator with a commitment to finding the best integration of network technology and equipment for each customer. He has learned the business from the ground up, immersing himself in the technology of our products as well as our installations. With that experience Darin has contributed greatly to the sales, design and configuration of our digital and audio recording system solutions.”
Cooper joined Sound Communications in 1998 and has committed a significant portion of his career to participating in the design of digital and audio recording products and software for the public safety, security and call center industries. Selected twice as the Solutions Engineer of the Year for Verint Systems, he is a requested national speaker for both public safety and call center user conferences. Since joining Sound Communications, the company has experienced growth in both product offerings and clientele and has been recognized with numerous industry awards. Cooper attended the University of Southern Florida and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
“Sound Communications will strive to remain on the leading edge of technology with new products and services for our clients. We are dedicated to providing significant contributions to the Public Safety industry with innovative solutions to record critical data for NextGen 911,” Cooper said. “We will also support the increasingly complex applications like Workforce Management and Speech Analytics and integrations with the VoIP infrastructure in Call Centers. The Security & Access Control areas of our business as well as Courtroom Recording are also positioned for expansion.”
Now with more than 35 employees, Sound Communications has grown in size and reputation.
